James R. Garven

I currently hold appointments at Baylor University as the Frank S. Groner Memorial Chair of Finance, Professor of Finance & Insurance, and RMI Program Director, and at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as a Visiting Scholar. I have previously held business school faculty appointments at three other universities: Louisiana State University, University of Texas at Austin, and Pennsylvania State University

At Baylor, I teach courses in managerial economics, risk management, and financial engineering, and my research interests are in corporate risk management, insurance economics, and option pricing theory and applications. I currently serve as an associate editor for Geneva Risk and Insurance Review and Journal of Risk and Insurance, and I am a past President of two academic associations: the American Risk and Insurance Association and the Risk Theory Society.
